It will be an exciting day to be at the Lawaqa Park, Nadroga to witness the rugby match between the resorts. The match will start at 8am on the 5th of September, 2015. The new touch rugby has been launched by Dua Sports Management of which resorts and tour operators will be part of. The Bula Coffee Battle of the Resorts Touch Rugby tournament is the first ‘Battles in Fiji’ series that DSM has organized. It is believed to be held every year to showcase not only the sporting part of it but to promote the Fijian coffee story to the tourists.
Bula Coffee managing director Luke Fryett said the competition served as a platform to showcase Fiji coffee to tourists.
“Bula Coffee was thrilled to be a part of the Battle of the Resorts tournament as the tourism industry is a big part of our story here, we sell our beans, and plunger coffee to a huge number of tourists each week, to take home a part of the real Fiji with them.
“We have a strong belief in the future of the Fijian coffee industry and are committed to its development and sustainability, which is why we want to support community events such as this,” he said.

Touch rugby began in Australia in 1923, as a fun thing to do and as a training game for rugby league. It did not become an official sport until 1968 and over 40 countries around the world play touch currently in major competitions.
The resort teams competing in the touch rugby are:
Outrigger, Shangrila, Hideaway, Holiday Inn Suva, Grand Pacific Hotel, Uprising, Wananavu, Waidroka Bay, and Radisson
